Graduates

What is a graduate internship?

A graduate internship is a unique opportunity to have graduate calibre employees work in a business for a short period of time.  Each internship will be expected to last between 8 and 12 weeks and graduates can be expected to work on all different types of projects/jobs.  Businesses will provide work for at least 30 hours per week on projects at their discretion.

Which graduates can apply?

Any recent graduates from a UK University (including international graduates with UK work eligibility) can apply.  This includes those who are due to be completing their courses in 2010, or may have graduated already in previous years.

How to apply?

All of our current vacancies are updated daily on the Home Page.  If you don’t see anything there that you like, simply send your CV to internships@brunel.ac.uk and a member of the Placement and Careers Team will contact you about appropriate opportunities.  I would be really helpful if you can include information in your email about;

  • What your current situation is (e.g. seeking work)
  • What sectors and industries you’d like to work in
  • Location preference
  • Availability to start work

What happens once I’ve applied?

Brunel University has a dedicated team of recruitment specialists who will attract, sift and forward appropriate graduate candidates to businesses  registered on this scheme. Businesses will then select the best graduate/s for their internship/s.  Businesses can take on one or more graduate internships, which must be completed before September 2010.

Support during your internship

All of the vacancies that are posted on this site have been vetted for their appropriateness so you can rest assured that you’re not applying just for any old job.  Furthermore, if you’re a recent graduate of Brunel University (2008, 2009 or 2010), the Brunel University Placement & Careers Centre will be at your disposal to make use of information resources, advice and guidance.

Are the internships paid or unpaid?

Most of our vacancies do come with some remuneration from the employer – as these internships are about gaining work experience, you should not expect large graduate salaries.  Rather, you should see this as a unique opportunity to gain invaluable experience that could be the springboard you need to gain permanent employment.  Some of our interns may be offered full time employment as a direct result of their internship.
